Sculptural Explorations with Mixed Media & Encaustic
WITH Susan Stover
OCTOBER 24 - 27, 2019
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Are you ready to move off the flat panel and explore some sculptural or relief forms with encaustic? This workshop will focus on experimenting with loads of materials to create wall sculptures and 3-d forms. We’ll start by looking at other artists to get the creative juices flowing and to illustrate some of the various options. Techniques and demos will include multiple ways of constructing and building underlying structures with materials such as foam, plaster, wood, cardboard, paper clay, wire, and found objects. Using encaustic on top of the forms, we will incorporate surface treatments and mark making with pastels and oil sticks. Discussions will include color and form interaction, scale relationships, importance of sketching, presentation options, finding one’s unique voice.
INVESTMENT: $1200 (+ tax) *Lodging not included
